The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) Library is the first automated library of Pakistan that has been providing excellent services and facilities to fulfill the information needs of its clients. The library is equipped with state-of-the-art systems and technologies. It has a collection of over 350,000 volumes. The library is managed by qualified and experienced staff, dedicated to provide high quality innovative services. Its culture of trust, tolerance, sharing and self servicing makes it a unique library of the region.
Problems Faced
The old system deployed by LUMS, was not helping Library staff to manage the affairs of the library, Acquisitions and Cataloging and Circulation of the Books were not so efficient. The system maintenance was sluggish and thus time consuming resulting having no proper data records.
Implemented Solution
The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) Library decided to go for this project with VTLS product Virtua to satisfy all the needs of Library business, objectives to improve their overall manageability, performance and information flow of the library affairs.
